Dreamboat

For the students and faculty of Stoneham College, Thornton Sayre (Clifton Webb) is a distinguished and respected professor. But decades earlier, under the stage name ‘Dreamboat,’ he was a swashbuckling, romantic hero of the silent screen—a past he has worked diligently to forget.

His quiet, scholarly life is thrown into chaos when a new television show, hosted by his glamorous former co-star Gloria Marlowe (Ginger Rogers), begins airing his forgotten films to a new generation. Suddenly, he’s the talk of the campus, and his academic credibility is on the line. Determined to bury ‘Dreamboat’ for good, Thornton and his daughter (Anne Francis) head to New York to stop the broadcasts, but Gloria has no intention of letting her show—or her former leading man—go quietly. This clever satire makes Dreamboat a sharp and hilarious classic Hollywood comedy.
