The Big Trees

In the year 1900, the majestic redwood forests of Northern California are seen as an untapped resource by greedy timber baron Jim Fallon (Kirk Douglas). Using a new law to his advantage, Fallon arrives with a plan to log the ancient sequoias for a massive and unethical profit.

But he’s met with unexpected resistance. The forest is already home to a devout Quaker colony that has a deep, spiritual connection to the giant trees and refuses to let them be destroyed. The settlers, led by the steadfast Alicia Chadwick (Eve Miller), try to appeal to Fallon’s better nature. As Fallon’s ruthless tactics escalate, he is forced to confront his own conscience, especially when other, even more dangerous opportunists arrive. This gripping story of greed versus faith makes The Big Trees a powerful and visually stunning classic Western.
