A young aspiring writer (Laraine Day) believes she’s hit the jackpot when she’s hired as the secretary for renowned novelist Owen Waterbury (Kirk Douglas). Her excitement quickly fades, however, when she discovers he’s an unpredictable, self-absorbed playboy. As opposites inevitably attract, their relationship unfolds amid humorous twists and deeper themes of marital rivalry and personal responsibility.
