Scott Forbes (September 11, 1920 – February 25, 1997) was a British actor and screenwriter who became a television star in the United States by portraying the legendary American frontiersman Jim Bowie.
In 1956, Forbes was cast in the title role of the popular ABC Western series The Adventures of Jim Bowie. To perfect his Southern accent for the part, he trained with former Miss Alabama, Jeanne Moody, whom he had married in 1954. The historically-based series was a huge hit with younger audiences and made Forbes a familiar face to American television viewers of the era.
Before and after his television stardom, Forbes worked as a character actor in numerous films, including the British POW classic The Colditz Story (1955). In his later career, he focused on screenwriting (under the name C. Scott Forbes), penning scripts for acclaimed British television series such as The Saint and The Avengers.
