Olive Deering (October 11, 1918 – March 22, 1986) was an American character actress best known for her memorable roles in the lavish biblical epics of legendary director Cecil B. DeMille. She appeared as the treacherous Mara in Samson and Delilah (1949) and is most widely remembered for her powerful performance as Miriam, the sister of Moses, in the monumental classic The Ten Commandments (1956). A respected stage performer and member of the acclaimed Actors Studio, Deering was also a frequent face in the golden age of television, appearing in numerous live anthology dramas like Shirley Temple’s Storybook and the early sci-fi series Tales of Tomorrow. She died on March 22, 1986 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA.
