Lyle Talbot (born Lisle Henderson; February 8, 1902 – March 2, 1996) was a remarkably versatile American actor whose career spanned the stage, television, and a prolific run through Hollywood’s Golden Age. He began his screen career in the early sound era as a contract player for Warner Bros., first appearing as a handsome matinee idol before transitioning into a durable character actor and a frequent star of B-movies, ultimately amassing over 150 film credits. For a new generation of viewers, he became a household face playing Ozzie Nelson’s friendly neighbor, Joe Randolph, for a decade on the beloved sitcom The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Beyond his on-screen work, Talbot made a lasting impact on his profession as a proud founding member of the Screen Actors Guild, on which he also served as a board member.
