Jimmy Garrett

Jimmy Garrett (September 23, 1954 – September 17, 2021) is an American former child actor who is best remembered for playing Jerry Carmichael, the on-screen son of comedy legend Lucille Ball, in the classic 1960s sitcom, The Lucy Show.

From 1962 to 1965, Garrett was a key member of the original cast, portraying the mischievous and adventurous young son of Lucy Carmichael. He was part of the show’s initial premise, which focused on Lucy and her best friend Vivian Bagley (Vivian Vance) raising their children together as two single mothers.

As the series was retooled for its fourth season to focus more on Lucy’s workplace antics, the child characters were gradually phased out. After a couple of final appearances, Garrett, along with his on-screen friends, was written out of the show. Though his acting career was brief, his role as Jerry Carmichael secured his place as a memorable figure in one of television’s most beloved sitcoms.
