Helen Boyce (September 24, 1918 – February 27, 1997) was an American character actress who appeared in a number of films during the 1940s, often playing comedic, heavyset women.
Though her career was brief, Boyce was a memorable presence in several films of the era. She is best known for her role as “Big Anne,” the feisty and humorous saloon girl, in the classic Randolph Scott Western Abilene Town (1946).
She also appeared in a supporting role in the musical short Spreadin’ the Jam (1945) and had an uncredited bit part in the popular comedy Abbott and Costello in Hollywood (1945). After a handful of other roles, she retired from the screen in the late 1940s.
