John Hubbard (April 14, 1914 – November 6, 1988) was a versatile American actor who transitioned from a handsome leading man in the 1940s to a familiar character actor on television. He is best known for his leading role as the caveman hero Tumak opposite Carole Landis in the prehistoric fantasy classic, One Million B.C. (1940).
Hubbard began his career as a leading man at Hal Roach Studios in comedies like The Housekeeper’s Daughter (1939) and Turnabout (1940). As his career progressed into the 1950s, he became a frequent face in supporting roles on television. His most notable recurring part was that of the friendly neighbor, Mr. Brown, in The Mickey Rooney Show: Hey, Mulligan (1954-1955).
