Jonathan Haze (April 1, 1929 – November 2, 2024) was an American actor, producer, and screenwriter, a true cult movie icon who is forever remembered as the star of one of the most famous B-movies ever made, Roger Corman’s The Little Shop of Horrors (1960).
Discovered by legendary producer Roger Corman while working at a gas station, Haze became a key member of Corman’s stock company, appearing in many of his early, low-budget classics. He played memorable roles in a string of 1950s sci-fi and horror films, including Day the World Ended (1955), It Conquered the World (1956), and Not of This Earth (1957).
His most famous role was that of the nerdy, plant-loving Seymour Krelboined in the original black comedy masterpiece, The Little Shop of Horrors, which was famously shot in just two days. After his acting career, Haze also worked behind the scenes as a writer and producer, leaving behind a legacy as a central figure in the wild and creative world of Roger Corman’s B-movie empire.
