Grégoire Aslan

Grégoire Aslan (born Krikor Aslanian; March 28, 1908 – January 8, 1982) was a prolific Swiss-Armenian character actor whose distinctive, heavy-lidded appearance and gravelly voice made him a go-to performer for portraying exotic villains and authority figures in over 100 international films.

Aslan began his career as a musician and bandleader in Paris before turning to acting. With his ability to perform in multiple languages, he became a familiar face in British, French, and American cinema. He is well-remembered for his roles as the treacherous Pothinus in the historical epic Cleopatra (1963) starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and as King Brob in the fantasy adventure The 3 Worlds of Gulliver (1960).

He also showcased his comedic talents as Lugashi Police Chief in The Return of the Pink Panther (1975). His other notable roles include the scheming vizier in the adventure film The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1973).
