John Zaremba (October 22, 1908 – December 15, 1986) was an American actor who, after a career in journalism, became one of the most familiar and dependable faces of authority in classic science-fiction films and television.
With his intelligent and serious demeanor, Zaremba was perfectly cast as doctors, scientists, and government officials. He is a true icon to sci-fi fans, known for his roles as Professor Kanter in Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956) and Dr. Judson Uhl in 20 Million Miles to Earth (1957).
He found his greatest fame on television, with a number of prominent recurring roles. He played the steadfast FBI agent Jerry Dressler for three seasons on the Cold War drama I Led 3 Lives (1953-1956) and is best remembered as the wise Dr. Raymond Swain, one of the lead scientists trying to bring the heroes home in the classic Irwin Allen sci-fi series The Time Tunnel (1966-1967). He was also a familiar face to a different audience as the spokesperson in commercials for Hills Brothers Coffee.
