Myron Healey (June 8, 1923 – December 21, 2005) was a prolific American character actor who became one of the most recognizable and dependable “bad guys” in the golden age of B-Westerns and television, a go-to villain who menaced nearly every hero of the era.
After serving in World War II, Healey became a staple of low-budget Westerns, particularly for Monogram Pictures, where he frequently squared off against cowboy stars like Johnny Mack Brown and Jimmy Wakely. He transitioned seamlessly to television, becoming a semi-regular on Gene Autry’s productions like The Gene Autry Show and Annie Oakley, and guest-starring as historical outlaws like Bob Dalton and Johnny Ringo on various series.
Though known for playing villains, Healey occasionally played the hero, starring in the 1955 serial Panther Girl of the Kongo and playing a Revolutionary War officer in the Disney miniseries Swamp Fox opposite Leslie Nielsen. He also appeared in cult horror films like Varan the Unbelievable and The Incredible Melting Man. With a career of nearly 300 film and TV credits, he remains a true icon to fans of classic Westerns.
