Crauford Kent (October 12, 1881 – May 14, 1953) was a prolific English character actor who, after a career as a leading man in silent films, became one of Hollywood’s most dependable and ubiquitous supporting players, appearing in over 200 films.

Kent began his career as a handsome leading man in the silent era, starring in films like Seven Keys to Baldpate (1917) and Silas Marner (1922). With his distinguished British demeanor, he was a popular hero in numerous romantic dramas and mysteries throughout the 1910s and 20s.

With the arrival of sound, Kent transitioned seamlessly into a career as a character actor, though often in uncredited roles. He was frequently cast as butlers, noblemen, and various other British authority figures. He can be spotted in a vast number of Golden Age classics, including The Sea Hawk (1940), Alfred Hitchcock’s Foreign Correspondent (1940), the classic film noir The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945), and Cecil B. DeMille’s epic Samson and Delilah (1949).
