A Shriek in the Night

The death of a wealthy philanthropist, who has mysteriously fallen from his penthouse balcony, is just the beginning. The police rule it a suicide, but rival newspaper reporters Pat Morgan (Ginger Rogers) and Ted Rand (Lyle Talbot) smell a story—and a murder.

Their investigation becomes a grim race against time when more bodies start turning up in the luxury apartment building, each one strangled. As Pat and Ted compete for the scoop, they uncover a web of secrets among the building’s residents, where everyone from the staff to the tenants has something to hide and a potential motive. They must put aside their professional rivalry to piece together the clues and unmask the killer before they become the next victims. This fast-paced mystery makes A Shriek in the Night a classic whodunnit from Hollywood’s pre-Code era.
