Frank Melton (December 6, 1907 – March 19, 1951) was a dependable American character actor who appeared in numerous films throughout Hollywood’s Golden Age. Born in Pineapple, Alabama, he became a familiar face during the 1930s and 40s, often appearing in supporting roles that added authenticity to the era’s biggest pictures. His notable film credits include the classic musical State Fair (1933), the historical adventure The Buccaneer (1938), and the James Stewart comedy Pot o’ Gold (1941). Though often in uncredited parts, Melton was a consistent presence on screen during the height of the studio system until his untimely death in 1951.
