Ernest Truex

Ernest Truex (September 19, 1889 – June 26, 1973) was a prolific American character actor whose career spanned stage, film, and television, specializing in portraying meek, flustered, and endearingly fussy gentlemen. A true veteran of the performing arts, he began his career on stage as a child actor and became a successful Broadway star long before transitioning to Hollywood. In film, his diminutive stature and precise comedic timing made him a go-to for memorable supporting roles, such as the bewildered agent in the classic comedy His Girl Friday (1940).
