June Allyson

June Allyson (October 7, 1917 – July 8, 2006) was a beloved American actress whose sunny disposition, raspy voice, and quintessential “girl next door” charm made her one of the most popular stars of the 1940s and 50s. As a major contract star for MGM, she became the ideal embodiment of the loyal and wholesome American wife and sweetheart.

She was frequently paired with James Stewart, playing his devoted wife in the popular biographies The Glenn Miller Story (1954) and The Stratton Story (1949). While she won a Golden Globe Award for the comedy Too Young to Kiss (1951), her career later transitioned to television, where she hosted her own anthology series. To a later generation, her trustworthy persona made her a familiar face as the longtime spokesperson for Depend adult undergarments.
